Good-Bye Red Tip

Yesterday was a little exciting at our house.  We're getting a larger pool next week and needed a 6 foot opening for the bobcat to get through.  In order to have that large of an opening, my husband announced that the Red Tip bush was coming out...wahoo!!!!  I have wanted that thing out for the 13 years we've lived here, but he said it would be too much work to take it out.

Now you see it...
This bush has probably been there forever and so we weren't sure how difficult it would be to come out.  We also didn't want to rip up the walkway that our neighbors have on the other side of the fence, so my husband soaked it daily for several days.  Our neighbor friend brought over his tool truck, there are benefits to having a Mac Tool salesman as a friend, and the fun began.

I was going to share a video, but it's taking way to long so that could be another day.

Then the guys had to do their man cheer for a job well done.  No more Red Tip!!

Once the pool is in place and the fence rebuilt, rose bushes are coming in! I'm extremely excited about that because I've wanted roses for a long time, but didn't really have a good spot for them.  As it turns out, we'll have them on either side of the house.  Funny thing, my husband is the one who suggested them...definitely a keeeper!

  1. I would love to have been there and watched the roots come up. Years ago, your Dad used his truck to pull a fig tree out in front of our first house iln Lubbock, TX. You would probably not remember, since you were a toddler.

The roses will look lovely there.

  2. If only more people would pull out those red tips but people seem to have a love affair with them here too. They have horrible problems but still the nurseries sell them-or at least the big box stores. Have fun with your new pool and choosing rose.

  3. Such excitement!!! I remember when my parents pulled a Spanish Bayonet out of their front yard by tying a chain around it and to the bumper of a VW Beetle! That was so fun...everyone was cheering for it to come out easily...and it did! I know you are so looking forward to your new roses!!! Congrats on getting a larger pool too!!!
